Step by Step Installation Of Lync Server 2013 Standard Edition Part 3 \u2013 Installing Lync Server 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this post we will see the installation of Lync Server 2013. We will be installing the Lync Server 2013 on the Front End Server (FE.PRAJWAL.LOCAL<\/strong>). Perform the below steps using the user account\u00a0 LyncAdmin<\/strong>.
\nRun the Setup.exe<\/strong> from the Lync Server 2013 installation DVD<\/strong>. Click Yes<\/strong> to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 64 bit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

On the next screen Click Install<\/strong> to install the Lync Server 2013.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Click I accept the terms in the license agreement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

After the setup we see the Lync Server 2013 Deployment Wizard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

The first step that we will perform here is \u201cPrepare Active Directory<\/strong>\u201c. Click on Prepare Active Directory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 1 \u2013 Prepare Schema<\/strong>: Extends the Active Directory schema by adding new classes and attributes that are used by Lync Server. Prepare Schema must be run once in a forest where Lync Server is deployed.
\nRun the Prepare Schema.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Click Finish<\/strong> to Complete the Prepare Schema Step<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 2 \u2013 Verify Replication Of Schema Partition:<\/strong> To manually verify that the schema partition has been replicated, Log on to Domain controller, Click Start<\/strong>, Administrative Tools<\/strong>, Open ADSI Edit<\/strong>. Right click ADSI Edit and click Connect to<\/strong>. Select a well known Naming Context as Schema<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Double Click Schema<\/strong>, Expand it and Under Schema container<\/strong> Search for CN=ms-RTC-SIP-SchemaVersion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Double click CN=ms-RTC-SIP-SchemaVersion<\/strong> and verify if value of the rangeUpper attribute<\/strong> is 1150 and the value of the rangeLower attribute<\/strong> is 3. If you don\u2019t find the rangeUpper and rangeLower attributes or if their values are not as specified, then the schema is not modified or has not replicated.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 3 \u2013 Prepare Current Forest<\/strong>: This step creates global settings and universal groups that are used by Lync Server. This step must be run once in a forest where Lync server is deployed.<\/p>\n

Run the Prepare Current Forest<\/strong>. Click Next.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Select Local Domain<\/strong> and click Next.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

The Prepare Forest Step has been completed. Click Finish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 4 \u2013 Verify Replication of Global Catalog<\/strong>: To confirm that the replication of the Global Catalog and the creation of objects during Forest Preparation have been successful, open Active Directory Users And Computers<\/strong>, under users you should find CSAdministrator Group<\/strong> along with 8 new groups with names that begin with CS<\/strong>. If you find these groups in the console then the Replication of Global Catalog<\/strong> is successful.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 5 \u2013 Prepare the Current Domain<\/strong>: This step adds permissions on objects to be used by members of universal groups. It should be run once per user domain or server domain.<\/p>\n

Run the Prepare Current domain<\/strong> and click finish to close the wizard.<\/p>\n

Step 6 \u2013 Verify Replication in the Domain<\/strong>: To verify the replication in the domain, click start<\/strong>, open Lync Server Management Shell<\/strong>
\nType the command : Get-CsAdDomain [-Domain <Fqdn>] [-DomainController <Fqdn>] [-GlobalCatalog <Fqdn>] [-GlobalSettingsDomainController <Fqdn>]<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Our case we will type : Get-CsAdDomain -Domain ropse.com -DomainController ROPSEDC01.ropse.com -GlobalCatalog ROPSEDC01.ropse.com<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

We will open the file which is created here \u201cC:\\Users\\lyncadmin\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\Get-CsAdDomain-eb0659e0-85e5-482a-9daa-8702844c1796.html\u201d. Open the HTML file and check for the value\u00a0 LC_DOMAIN_SETTINGS_STATE_READY<\/strong>. If you find this value then the domain preparation has been successful. In the below screenshot we find the value LC_DOMAIN_SETTINGS_STATE_READY, which means the domain preparation is successful.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 7 \u2013 Add users to provide administrative access to Lync control panel<\/strong>: Access to Lync Control Panel is controlled by group membership in a universal group called CSAdministrator<\/strong>. We will add user account Lyncadmin<\/strong> and administrator<\/strong> to CSAdministrator Group<\/strong>.
\nClick on start, Click Administrative tools<\/strong>, Open Active Directory Users and Computers<\/strong>, Under Users<\/strong> look for group named CSAdministrator<\/strong>. Double click the group, select Member of<\/strong> and add Administrator and LyncAdmin to CSAdministrator group. Click Apply and OK.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

At last in your Deployment Wizard<\/strong> window you must find the status as Complete with a green check<\/strong> mark for all the preparation steps. Do not exit the wizard, Click Back.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Now we will proceed with the second step. Click on Prepare first Standard Edition Server<\/strong>. This will prepare a single Standard Edition Server to host the Central Management Store.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Click Next.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

During this step, in the background SQL Server 2008 Express Edition<\/strong> is installed, RTC Databases<\/strong> are created and populated.<\/p>\n

Click finish<\/strong> to complete the prepare single Standard edition server step.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

After Preparing the Standard Edition Server, We will now install Administrative tools<\/strong>. This will install the Administrative Tools that will used in deploying Lync Server. Click on Install<\/strong>
\nAdministrative Tools.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Administrative Tools have been Installed.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Configure DNS Records<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lync Server supports three simple URLs: Meet<\/strong>, Dial-In<\/strong>, and Admin<\/strong>. You are required to set up simple URLs for Meet and Dial-In, and the Admin simple URL is optional. Perform this as domain administrator on Domain controller. Click Start<\/strong>, click Administrative Tools<\/strong>, launch DNS Manager<\/strong>. Right Click the domain and Select Other New Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Select Service Location (SRV)<\/strong> and Click Create Record<\/strong>. The SRV record will point to our Lync Front End Server.<\/p>\n

Set the following Values:<\/p>\n

Service = _sipinternaltls<\/strong><\/p>\n

Protocol = _tcp<\/strong><\/p>\n

Port Number = 5061<\/strong><\/p>\n

Host offering his service = fe.prajwal.local.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

We will create 3 Host Records called meet<\/strong>, dialin<\/strong> and admin<\/strong> in our DNS server. Right Click domain, click New Host (A or AAAA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

Provide the name as meet<\/strong>, IP address = 192.168.100.2<\/strong> click Add Host<\/strong>. Repeat the same for admin<\/strong> and dialin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Installation<\/a><\/p>\n

We have created 3 host records and 1 SRV record. This completes the DNS configuration for Lync Server.<\/p>\n
